As you may already know, I have decided to seek the statewide office of CFO.
During the past few weeks, a tremendous number of people from all over the state reached out to me and encouraged me to seek this post. After speaking with many of you, my family and my closest friends, I have decided to make this jump. Today, we make it official!
But I can’t do it alone. Will you take the next step?
Already, our campaign has received strong backing from all corners of the state. In fact, Senator Bill Nelson, CFO Alex Sink, Former Senator Bob Graham and Congressman Kendrick Meek have already endorsed our campaign!
So why run?
Florida stands at a crossroad. We see unprecedented corruption in and around the political process, we see our state failing to make solid investments in our future and we see many politicians in power turning their backs on the working families of this state.
Floridians deserve a CFO who believes in accountability, transparency and responsibility — a CFO who will keep an eye on how all of our tax dollars are spent. That is the kind of CFO Alex Sink has been for the last four years and that is exactly the kind of CFO I will be for the people of Florida.
As an attorney and a lawmaker, I worked hard to ensure that our state invested wisely and that tax dollars were spent efficiently and responsibly. As the Chair of the $300 million-per-year Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, I am keenly aware of how important it is to invest in our state’s future and bring affordable health insurance to the children of this state. Finally, as a citizen of this state, I want to carry on and expand the strong record of transparency and accountability started by Alex Sink.
